Oxidized Bitumen 105/35 is manufactured by passing hot air through Bitumen 60/70 under controlled conditions, transforming it into a semi-solid oxidized grade with enhanced hardness and thermal resistance. The grade designation “105/35” refers to the midpoint of its softening point (approximately 105°C) and penetration value (approximately 35, in tenths of a millimeter). Production follows either a continuous or staggered blowing process, where heated penetration-grade bitumen is blown with air under controlled conditions to reduce oil content and increase oxidation.

This grade is particularly well-suited as a hot-melt bonding compound — applied at a rate of approximately 1 kg/m² to bond preformed sheets and structures made from Bitumen 60/70.

Application of Blown Asphalt 105/35

Oxidized Grade Bitumen should be broken into small pieces and heated slowly to an application temperature of 220°C to 230°C — approximately double the temperature of its softening point — to achieve proper flow and viscosity.

Blown Asphalt 105/35 serves as an adhesive substrate for asphalt membranes and as a protective coating for metal and concrete under atmospheric conditions. It is widely used for pipeline coating, impregnating paper and board coatings, and as a bonding agent for tiles, mastics, cork plates, and roofing felt adhesives.
