PERFORMACE GRADE BITUMEN
SBS Polymeric Performance Grade Bitumen is a type of modified bitumen enhanced with Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene (SBS) polymer. The SBS polymer imparts elastomeric properties to the bitumen, significantly improving its elasticity, flexibility, and overall resistance to thermal cracking, rutting, and aging. This makes SBS-modified bitumen highly suitable for applications in extreme weather and high-traffic conditions, particularly in paving and roofing.
A CLOSER LOOK AT ITS KEY PROPERTIES AND APPLICATIONS:
- Elasticity and Flexibility: SBS modification allows the bitumen to stretch and recover, adapting to temperature fluctuations. This helps prevent cracks in cold climates and deformation in hot conditions, offering durability on both highways and in roofing.
- Enhanced Performance Grades: SBS Polymeric Bitumen is graded under the Performance Grade (PG) system, developed to provide tailored solutions based on specific temperature and traffic demands. It can be engineered to meet specific standards, such as PG 76-22, which is suitable for high-temperature environments.
- Improved Adhesion and Waterproofing: SBS-modified bitumen has superior adhesion, making it ideal for binding aggregates in asphalt mixtures, which contributes to enhanced waterproofing and longer-lasting pavements.
Due to these qualities, SBS-modified bitumen is commonly used in road paving, airport runways, bridge decks, and other high-stress environments. Additionally, it offers increased lifecycle cost-effectiveness as it reduces maintenance frequency and expenses associated with pavement repairs.
PERFORMANCE GRADE 76-22
RAHA Oil Co PG 76-22 is PMB Performance Grade Bitumen which is graded based on its performance at different temperatures. The main purpose of grading and selecting asphalt binder using the PG system is to make certain that the binder has the appropriate properties for environmental conditions in the field. PG asphalt binders are selected to meet expected climatic conditions as well as traffic speed and volume adjustments.
SOME OF THE DESTINATION WHICH WE EXPORT TO:
RAHA Oil Co export Performance Grade Bitumen 76-22 to a variety of countries across East Asia and Africa. In East Asia, this includes major destinations such as China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Taiwan, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Romania. In Africa, we supply bitumen to Libya, Kenya, Liberia, Sudan, South Africa, and Congo, supporting infrastructure projects across diverse climates and requirements. Our reliable delivery and quality focus enable us to serve both established and emerging markets in these regions.
PG BITUMEN TESTS
The PG bitumen is tested based on the different methods of the AASHTO standard. For PG bitumen, 3 parameters which are related to rutting, fatigue and thermal cracking should be tested. For PG bitumen, besides the solubility test, flash point test, specific gravity and softening point tests, there are new test methods including:
- Viscosity Determination of Bitumen Using Rotational Viscometer (RV)- AASHTO T 316
- Determining the Rheological Properties of Bitumen Using a Dynamic Shear Rheometer (DSR)-AASHTO T 315
- Determining the Fracture Properties of Bitumen in Direct Tension (DT) – AASHTO T314
- Determining the Flexural Creep Stiffness of Bitumen Using the Bending Beam Rheometer (BBR)-AASHTO T 313
- Test for Effect of Heat and Air on a Moving Film of Bitumen (Rolling Thin-Film Oven Test)-AASHTO T 240
- Accelerated Aging of Bitumen Using a Pressurized Aging Vessel (PAV)-AASHTO R 28
- Elastic Recovery Test- AASHTO T301
- Determining the Separation Tendency of Polymer from Polymer -Modified Bitumen – ASTM D7173
