APPLICATION GUIDELINES FOR ASPHALT EMULSION K1-60
Ensure surfaces are clean and dry, free from dust, oil, grease, and debris. In hot weather, dampen the surface with water to slow down water loss and improve wetting. No standing water should be present during application. Apply Bitumen Emulsion K1-60 in dry, frost-free conditions with temperatures ranging from 5°C to 35°C. Roll the drums before application to agitate the contents. For cationic emulsions, use a hand broom or squeegee to apply, brushing in one direction without excessive scrubbing. Alternatively, spraying is recommended for a uniform distribution and even film formation. Spray equipment should meet the specifications outlined in BS3136. Ensure an even spray application without ponding in low-lying areas to prevent localized thickening of subsequent courses.
For best results:
- Use Bitumen Emulsion without dilution.
- Apply at ambient temperature.
- Roll the Bitumen Emulsion drums in a back and forth motion at a minimum distance of 5 meters.

SAFETY AND HANDLING OF K1-60
Contains petroleum distillate; flammable. Keep away from open fire, sparks, or ignition sources. Wear protective clothing, gloves, and goggles.
- Fire hazard: Flammable when wet, with a flash point of 40°C.
- Skin contact: Avoid repeated or prolonged exposure. If contact occurs, remove with a hand cleaner designed to remove oil or grease, then clean with soap and water.
- Eye contact: May cause irritation. If contact occurs, flush immediately with clean water.
- Inhalation: Can cause dizziness. Move to fresh air immediately if feeling dizzy. If breathing difficulty persists, administer oxygen.
GENERAL PRECAUTIONS
- Avoid mixing with anionic or cationic emulsions from other manufacturers to prevent coagulation, especially during spraying.
- When changing grades, follow these steps:
- Drain spraying equipment thoroughly.
- Flush the machine and spray lance by continuously circulating kerosene.
- Pump the waste solution into a designated receptacle and drain completely. Dispose of it according to regulations.
- During breaks in spraying, periodically flush the lance with kerosene.
- At the end of each work period, it is recommended to empty the container completely, flush it with kerosene by continuous circulation, and drain the contents.
