ROAD CONSTRUCTION WITH K1-40

GUIDELINES FOR EFFECTIVE APPLICATION
For best results, surfaces must be dry, clean, and free from contaminants like dust, oil, grease, fuel spillage, mud, leaves, etc. In hot weather, dampening the surface with water is advised to slow down water loss during curing and improve surface wetting. No standing water should be present during application. Apply Asphalt Emulsion K1-40 in dry, frost-free conditions throughout the film drying period. Temperature range: 5°C to 35°C. Roll drums thoroughly before application. Use a hand broom or squeegee for cationic emulsions, brushing in one direction without excessive scrubbing. For uniform distribution, spray application is recommended, using equipment meeting BS3136 specifications. Avoid ponding and ensure even spray without localized thickening.
TO ENSURE BEST RESULTS:
- Do not dilute Bitumen Emulsion with water
- Apply at ambient temperature
- Roll the Bitumen Emulsion drums back and forth at a distance of at least 5 meters
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR K1-40 HANDLING
- Caution: This product contains petroleum distillate and is flammable. Keep away from open fire, sparks, or any other sources of ignition. Wear appropriate protective clothing, gloves, and goggles while handling.
- Fire hazard: This product is flammable when wet, with a flash point of 40°C.
- Avoid repeated or prolonged skin contact. If contact occurs, remove any residue with a hand cleaner specifically designed for oil or grease, and then clean the area with soap and water.
- In case of eye contact, rinse immediately with clean water. If irritation persists, seek medical attention.
- Inhalation of vapors may cause dizziness. If you experience dizziness, move to an area with fresh air. If breathing difficulties persist, administer oxygen and seek medical assistance.
COMPATIBILITY AND EQUIPMENT CLEANING GUIDELINES
- It is important not to mix Bitumen Emulsion K1-40 with anionic emulsions or cationic emulsions from other manufacturers, as this can result in coagulation. This is especially critical during spraying operations.
- When switching to a different grade of emulsion, follow the following procedure:
- Completely drain the spraying equipment.
- Flush the entire machine, including the spray lance, by continuously circulating kerosene.
- Pump the waste solution into a designated waste receptacle and ensure it is fully drained. Dispose of the waste in accordance with relevant regulations.
- During breaks in spraying, periodically flush the lance with kerosene.
- At the end of each working period, it is recommended to empty the container completely, flush it with kerosene through continuous circulation, and then drain it thoroughly.
