Micronized Gilsonite Powder
MICRONIZED GILSONITE POWDER
80-400 Mesh with Ash Content 0-25%
Gilsonite, in its natural bulk form, is available to customers and can also be provided in either conventional or micronized powder forms with varying mesh sizes.
The term “micronized powder” denotes particles that are typically below 20 microns in size, emphasizing its fine nature. The measurement scale for powders and soil masses uses the micron scale as the standard mesh or mesh scale.
Each application may require a specific mesh size. For instance, Gilsonite with a 200 mesh size exhibits high solubility, making it particularly well-suited for applications in drilling and asphalt.
USAGE OF MICRONIZED GILSONITE POWDER
Gilsonite micronized powder, with its fine particle size, finds various applications across different industries due to its unique properties.
SOME COMMON USES INCLUDE:
- Drilling Fluids: Used in the oil and gas industry as an additive in drilling fluids to enhance performance and provide stability.
- Asphalt Additive: Employed in the asphalt industry to improve the properties of asphalt mixes, enhancing durability and performance.
- Inks and Paints: Used in the production of inks and paints as a resinous component for its unique characteristics.
- Adhesives and Binders: Incorporated in adhesives and binders for its binding properties and ability to enhance product performance.
- Foundry Industry: Applied in the foundry industry as an additive in metal alloys for specific desired properties.
- Chemical Industry: Utilized in various chemical applications due to its solubility and compatibility with different substances.
The specific usage may vary based on the industry’s requirements and the desired properties needed for a particular application.
MICRONIZED GILSONITE PRODUCTION EXPERTISE
Our company boasts a team of proficient experts dedicated to the transformation of Gilsonite lumps into micronized powder ranging from 80 to 400 mesh, customized and packed to meet the specific requirements of our customers.
While the current processes for producing micronized Gilsonite/Natural Bitumen powder are often deemed hazardous and energy-inefficient, our production methods strive for innovation and efficiency. Traditionally, the mechanical milling of Gilsonite/Natural Bitumen lumps has been the primary approach, but this can be energy-intensive, especially for achieving finely sized particles. Our goal is to explore alternative methods that reduce energy consumption while ensuring high-quality micronized Gilsonite/Natural Bitumen powder production.
Our micronized Gilsonite powder product stands out with 95% of particles measuring less than approximately 75 microns. This not only represents a novel production method but also signifies a significant advancement in the commercial utility and benefits of micronized Gilsonite/Natural Bitumen particles compared to conventional methods.

GILSONITE; IN THE FORM OF ASPHALT POWDER
IS CREATED BY GRINDING LUPMS OF NATURAL BITUMEN INTO A FINE POWDER
The production of asphalt powder (Gilsonite Powder-Asphalt Powder- Natural Bitumen Powder) is a complex process that begins with exploration activities in both underground and open-top mines. Once the extraneous materials are removed, the focus shifts to accessing the core of natural bitumen to achieve a higher level of purity compared to the asphalt’s outer layers. Subsequently, the purified natural bitumen is transported to an asphalt powder factory for further processing.
PROCESSING NATURAL BITUMEN INTO ASPHALT POWDER
In the initial stage of asphalt powder production, natural bitumen undergoes grinding, resulting in a collection of 30-40 mesh powder. This bitumen powder is then stored in a tank and fed to the grinding machine based on its capacity. The natural bitumen powdering machine utilizes an air separator to produce a range of particle sizes, from 100 meshes to 600 meshes. Operating as a closed system, the process ensures efficiency, and once the asphalt is transformed into powder, it proceeds to the packaging phase.
