These characteristics make it an excellent choice for premixing applications. The emulsion exhibits a rich chocolate brown color and remains in a free-flowing liquid state at ambient temperature. Asphalt emulsions are categorized based on the electric charge enveloping the asphalt particles within the emulsion (either cationic or anionic) and the speed at which the suspended asphalt particles separate from the surrounding water (referred to as “breaking”). A slow-setting emulsion is specifically formulated to optimize the duration of mixing with aggregates.   2. Temperature: Avoid exposing MS-2 to freezing or boiling temperatures, as it can cause the emulsion to break. Safe storage temperatures range from 10°C (50°F) to 85°C (185°F).
